Family DentistAs a family dentist in Marietta, we pride ourselves on providing preventative dental care. Since we may treat generations of a family, we know that the best way to keep our patients oral health at optimal levels is to have an overall health plan in place. We also know that the last thing anyone wants is to have a raging toothache or to need an emergency root canal.

Preventative dentistry is one of the best and more preferred methods of treatment in comparison to intensive dental procedures. We can help you to stay in good oral health so that we can prevent these emergencies in future generations of families.

We are front and center when it comes to the various challenges that families face, often generationally, in the dental arena. It would surprise many people to know how many family members actually have the same challenges from generation to generation. Typically these are based on family genes, bad habits that are passed along, or inherent family traits that manifest themselves at some point. In other cases, bad or unhealthy eating habits can influence younger generations. For instance, parents who have a sweet tooth can raise children that also continue excessive consumption of sugar.

In addition to providing preventative care, here are some of the most common reasons people come to visit our family dentist office in Marietta:

Toothaches

Toothaches are some of the most uncomfortable issues to deal with. Toothaches, unfortunately, are a very generic symptom that can be manifesting as a result of any number of underlying problems. Sometimes the problems are simple, like a need for increased fluoride in your routine, and sometimes the problems can be more severe, like an infection which has spread to the root of the tooth and causing you to need an emergency root canal. In any scenario, we recommend contacting our office before the pain is severe enough to warrant an emergency.

Cavities

Every child learns about cavities at the family dentist‘s office, at home from their parents, or in school before promptly forgetting how to prevent them. Cavities are caused when plaque, the sticky substance that naturally occurs in food, is allowed to build up on teeth. The acid in the plaque attacks the enamel and eventually wears a small hole into the tooth itself, which is known as a cavity. Brushing twice a day, flossing, and visits to our family dentist office can easily minimize the risk of cavities.

As a family dentist in Marietta, we recommend having everyone in the family treated at the same location so that we can work with the entire group to form healthy habits and eliminate ones that can cause oral health problems.  A family that makes changes as a team will be more successful at decreasing everyone’s risk of getting a cavity, infection or a toothache.
