Robert S. Sykes, DDS can provide you with important dentures services in our restoration dentist office. We understand that a full set of healthy teeth is essential for being able to enjoy life on a daily basis. At our Marietta, GA dental office, we can help preserve your oral health and prevent tooth loss. However, if you do lose teeth due to infection, age, or damage, we can replace them using partial dentures, implant dentures, or maxillary and mandibular dentures. To find out which solution is right for you, call (770) 873-7241 to schedule an appointment with our 30060 dental office.

Our Denture Services

In our Marietta dental office, we can examine and fit you for a new set of dentures. We can discuss your options and whether you will be best served by standard maxillary and mandibular dentures or implant dentures. If you already have a set of dentures, our denture services include denture cleanings, denture relines, and denture rebasing. This way, your dentures can stay clean and in good condition, and maintain their ideal fit. Since we have an on-site dental lab, we can provide you with denture services quickly, often on the same day you come in.

We recommend that you schedule professional denture cleanings at least once a year. During that appointment, we can also examine your gums to ensure they are looking healthy. You still need to clean your dentures and soak them on a daily basis, but these appointments can help remove any of the grime that has built up over time. We will have you try on your dentures during these appointments as well. If it appears they are no longer fitting correctly, we may suggest denture relines or rebasing. This will allow us to make the necessary adjustments so you can continue wearing your dentures in comfort.

The Difference Between Dentures and Implant Dentures

Many dentists who provide dentures only offer removable dentures. Whether a partial set or maxillary and mandibular dentures, they are designed to be taken out on a nightly basis. For some patients, this creates a level of inconvenience or embarrassment that they are uncomfortable with. Some patients, for example, avoid going to restaurants or eating at family dinners due to a fear that their dentures will fall out. Others are leery of being too boisterous in conversation for fear that their dentures might become loose. In this situation, we can place implant dentures as a secure alternative.

Traditionally, patients receiving dental implants would have an individual implant placed where each original tooth was. This is still a good solution for partial tooth loss but can be too time-consuming when all or most of the teeth are missing. In this case, implant dentures are an ideal solution because the dentures are secured to only four implants. In most cases, four implants are placed in both the mandibular and the maxillary arch. Robert S. Sykes, DDS can place these implants in one appointment and provide patients with a new and secure set of teeth in just two appointments. On the first appointment, measurements are taken and an impression is made so our dental lab can create the dental prosthetic. On the second appointment, the implants are placed and the prosthetic is secured. Since we have an on-site dental lab, this procedure can be completed faster than it can at most dental offices.
